In the ’80s, slasher flicks were big box office. Budgets were low. Big stars weren’t necessary. All you needed were buckets of blood and scary situations. As a guy who stunt-doubled kids, it was a great time to be a stuntman.

Most of my friends who did stunts were big guys. There was a limited number of stunt guys that were my height and weight, so there was plenty of work to go around.

‘Nightmare’ movies were king and I had the chance to do three of them. I got to do 3, 4, and 6.

Having been Freddy’s prey three times seems like some sort of record/

Making these films could be a bit tedious. Getting the right mood visually takes time, lots of make-up, special effects, and smoke.

As it turns out, I got to double Ira Heiden from ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street 3, Dream Warriors’ in ‘Elvira Mistress of the Dark’ and Shon Greenblatt from ‘Nightmare on Elm Street 6, Freddy’s Dead’ in ‘Newsies.’

In October 2022, I was at Son of Monsterpalooza in Burbank, California and I got to catch up with Ira. (See pic below). I think I still make a pretty good double!
